Pharrell Williams is the target of a lawsuit by rapper Will.i.am. According to court documents obtained by RollingStone.com, Will.i.am is suing Pharrell over the name of his creative brand "i am OTHER."
The Black Eyed Peas rapper claims he owns the copyright to the phrase "I AM." He also says the "i am OTHER" logo that appears on clothing and other merchandise bears a resemblance to his own "I AM" logo. Will.i.am contends that Pharrell's brand "is likely to dilute the I AM mark and the WILL.I.AM mark."
In a statement to "Rolling Stone," Pharrell says that as a fellow artist, he's disappointed that Will would file a lawsuit against him. Pharrell says he tried to talk things out with will.i.am and that he's surprised by how the situation is being handled. He also calls Will's claims meritless and ridiculous.
