The Importance of DJs Truly Shines During Coronavirus Shutdown

This past weekend, marked our first full week of social distancing. While we found ourselves at home snacking, napping or being productive, some of us had the chance to party with our favorite artists and celebrities from the likes of Rihanna and Oprah to Joe Biden and even Stevie Wonder! No, you didn't have to leave the comfort of your own home, DJ D Nice brought out more than 100K viewers this past Saturday evening for his Homeschool series. From old school to new school back to the latest and greatest, viewers found themselves on his Instagram Live engaging with each other like it was a club, Club Quarantine it became.

DJ D Nice no amateur, had been hosting Instagram Live parties since Wednesday but it peaked Saturday as he went on for nine hours straight. No stranger to the music industry, D Nice, producer, rapper and photographer served as the DJ for the afterparty at the final music event hosted by President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama at the White House in 2016; not to mention part of the historic Rap group, Boogie Down Productions.

The importance of DJs really showed this past weekend. The gift of being able to change emotions and feelings in a time of crisis is truly something to be proud of! But DJ D Nice wasn't the only one rocking the virtual crowds, check out a few more DJs that kept us on our feet in the house and what they're doing to keep positive energy flowing and their own sanity!

Favorite part of going live on Instagram...

"Still being able to connect with people, even though it's digitally."

-DJ Wally Sparks

"I already miss being around people, I want to know what they're listening to, but I want to share my joy of music and get everyone dancing. This is really heaven for me, we're in this together, literally."

To stay sane, I'm reading, writing rollerblading (in my driveway) and spending time with myself, I'm having fun!"

-DJ Crop Top Tot

"Just being able to give people that time to detach from what's going on out here and be happ, drink or interact with other across the country."

-DJ Meel

"The best part of spinning live on Instagram is being able to connect with the people! Having the chance to bring some joy and happiness to their day by providing a variety of vibes to lift their spirits during this quarantine season."

"I've been able to spend a lot of time dancing, listening to music, hanging with my wife and fam and just playing house hoops with random objects."

-DeeJayQ

"I think my favorite part about going on live is being able to quickly switch between being in other people's story! Connecting and vibing with DJs and random people having little house vibes and tapping in with them.

"Aside from DJ'ing I'm writing poetry and some songs for release later on."

-DJ Memville
